In this modern age where we are constantly bombarded with images of women (mostly celebrities) who are lauded for staying trim throughout their pregnancies and who are worshiped for getting their pre-baby body back just weeks after giving birth, it's hard to not compare ourselves and find we come up short.

As women we already have a tremendous amount of pressure on us to meet outrageous and impossible standards of beauty. Pregnancy and the months after we've given birth should be all about expansion. The expansion of our bodies, our souls, our emotions, and our home. Worry about how much weight we've gained and how fast we can lose it has no place in the miracle of life. Stressing ourselves out, feeling like failures, or wishing the bodily side effects of pregnancy away is not healthy and, in the end, does us (and the beautiful little souls we birth into this world) no good.
